1950's Suzy Perette Satin Dress

"Suzy Perette New York" label. Suzy Perette was a dress manufacturing company that specialized in producing affordable versions of Parisian couture. A unique design in rayon satin, abstract print resembles palm fronds. The dress is styled with a scoop neckline and elbow length notched sleeves. The bodice is fitted, and reinforced with stays for shape. The bodice is given it's shape using a set of two gores on each side of waist, front and back (princess seaming). Below waist is a self pleated sash style belt that is attached, the belt has a side "bow" for drama. The skirt is very full and pleated. the bodice is lined, the skirt is not. Fastens with back metal zipper. In excellent freshly cleaned condition except for a small spot on the lining of the bodice. Size small. 1960's Anne Fogarty Hippy Chic Cotton Peasant Style Long Dress

"Anne Fogarty" label. This is really a lovely, feminine dress with a bohemian flair. Cotton voile fabric with multi-colored bright batik style print. Dress has scoop neckline and full length sleeves with ruffles at ends. The dress has an empire waist with a wide band of smocking, and there is smocking to match at each sleeve. The skirt is fairly full and about ankle length. Aside from a small brown stain on the edge of the neckline, the dress is in very nice condition and looks hardly worn. In the print of the gown is the exact same color as the color of the brown small stain on neckline, so it does blend in rather than stand out. Size small. About a size 4 loose fit, or size 6 snug fit in modern sizes. Measures 36" bust, 26-28" waist, free hips, 14" shoulder to bottom of smocking, 36" bottom of smocking to hem. 1940's Elizabeth Arden Silk Crepe Gown with Appliqués' and Floating Panels

"Elizabeth Arden Elegance' New York" and "Frederick Nielson" labels. Both Antonio del Castillo and Charles James designed for Elizabeth Arden Salon during the 1940's. This dress is from the mid to late 40's.  This incredible, rare late 40's gown is made of ink black silk crepe  made extraordinary by use of bias cut, off-center placed floating panels with weights. The left panel starts at side seam and attaches at center back at waist with snap, the right panel starts at center front waist and attaches just over the side seam, with a snap. The dress is superbly constructed and has a whimsical dragonfly print in pink, with neckline finished in lots of dragonfly appliqués'. The dress has a faux shirt waist front, with dragonfly appliqués' where the buttons would be, elbow length sleeves and side metal zipper. The bodice is lined in silk, the skirt is not lined. I am sure the dress was designed with the express purpose for dancing, to show off the floating panels. In Mint condition. Size medium. 1960's Geoffrey Beene Chic Little Dress

"Geoffrey Beene Boutique" label. Beene studied design in Paris, and also New York where he worked for Samuel Winston, Harmay and Teal Traina. He started his own line in 1963, to huge success. Within a year he won the first of 3 Coty awards, and also the Neiman-Marcus fashion award. Here we have a design that combines the youthful baby-doll look with beautiful sophisticated tailoring and dramatic fabric. The fabric is probably a wool and silk blend and is in white and navy blue faille, with a wide navy center panel front and back, with solid navy borders on sleeves and ascot to match. The dress is fitted, with semi-full skirt. The neckline is actually a scarf or ascot that folds over and ties at side. The dress comes with original belt. Bodice is lined in navy cotton. Dress fastens with back nylon zipper. In very good condition, has been shortened from original length, may have been taken in at waist, and has had zipper replacement. No stains or damage. Presents beautifully and very clean. Size small. Measures 15 1/2" shoulder to shoulder seam, 19" sleeve, 34" bust, 26" waist, free hips, 15" shoulder to waist seam, 20" waist to hem. Late 40's- 1950's New Look Traina-Norell Matte Satin Evening Dress

"Traina-Norell" label and "Nan Duskin Philadelphia" label. Rare late 40's to 1950 Traina Norell label, more elusive than Dior, for this era. Superb heavy black matte silk satin fabric, the finest quality you will ever touch- and that is not an overstatement.  Dress is styled with V neckline with wide sculpted collar, fitted bodice and waist, short fitted sleeves. Bodice has decorative, working double-breasted look with beautiful rhinestone buttons, 3 buttons each sleeve to match. Skirt is gored and very very full, lots of fabric. Dress is beautifully lined, fastens with side metal zipper. In excellent condition except for a tiny bit of fraying on two of the button holes, and the leather backing on the belt is broken. Buttons are not original, but so expertly done that look original. Absolutely gorgeous "New Look" dress. Size medium.
