1950's Illusion Lace Hourglass Dress

"Roy K. Bjorkland Minneapolis" label. Gorgeous hand-made, mocha colored floral lace. The lace has hand-applied cording to outline the flowers. Incredible. The dress is hourglass shaped, with plunging neckline that has scalloped edges. Cap sleeves, fitted. Dress has a 3" darker mocha silk satin band of fabric, accented with an off-center bow. Dress is lined in matching faille, the bodice lining is strapless and reinforced with metal stays. There is an inner grosgrain waist-cincher belt, and dress fastens with back metal zipper. It is in very good condition, has been taken up several times, one of the metal stays is poking out of the lining at the top, and has small brown spot on satin band. There is a lot of hem allowance to let down if desired. Size small. Measures 15" shoulder to shoulder edge, 34-36B bust, 30" midriff (the band below the bust), 25-26" waist, 34-36' hips, 15 1/2" shoulder to natural waist, 11 1/2" shoulder to bottom of satin band below waist, 24" waist to hem. 1950's Norman Norell Dress Suit

"Norman Norell New York" and "Martha Palm Beach New York" labels. A classic late 1950's dress suit. Instead of the usual matching jacket the dress comes with a matching short cape. The suit is made of gunmetal gray wool boucle with the dress having a black wool jersey bodice. The cape is lined in matching steel gray silk taffeta. The skirt of the dress is lined in a heavy black silk crepe. The cape fastens at collar with buttons on band of boucle fabric. The outfit is beautifully tailored, and top-notch as you would expect from a Norell of this era. In very very good condition. The dress has had a zipper replacement, there is a single snag of the boucle wool on the edge of the cape collar, and there are small snags on the back of the skirt, not noticeable because the fabric is boucle. No other problems at all. Looks hardly worn. Size medium. Dress measures 39" bust, 32" waist, 39" hips, 16" shoulder to waist, 41 1/2" shoulder to hem. For a larger view click here. 1960's Helga Oppenheimer Printed Wool Sheath Dress

"Helga" label. A loosely woven wool crepe dress that is fitted at waist and loose-fitting through bodice and hips. Gorgeous floral print in blues and violet shades, with black touches. Lined in silk. Back nylon zipper fastens with blue silk slip-like lining, the wool dress fastens over the zipper with cloth covered snaps. Hidden pockets placed at front side seams on skirt. Very nicely constructed and tailored dress with couture details. Has decorative pleat at   cap sleeves, and self attached belt that fastens in back with bow. Freshly cleaned. Very good condition, one long light stain did not come out on mid front skirt, not noticeable. Size small/petite. 1950's Larry Aldrich Embellished Matte Satin Evening Dress

"Larry Aldrich New York" label. An ink black matte silk satin. The design of the dress is simple, scoop neckline, fitted and darted bodice, with full skirt. The entire dress is embellished with a looped black cording design with little tassels and flowers of cord. The dress is beautifully lined in black silk (black netting at bodice) and fastens with a back nylon zipper. This is really a very opulent dress, all of the embellishments were hand-stitched, and the fabric is quite gorgeous. Excellent condition- except for zipper replacement. Size medium. 1970's  Averardo Bessi Cotton Jersey Belted Dress

"Averardo Bessi Made in Italy" and "Ruth Chagnon Delray Beach, Florida" labels. Also has Bessi signature on print. Could be a later vintage. Lovely soft cotton jersey with print of stylized plumes or feathers in periwinkle, black and cream. Matching corded belt finished the look. Back nylon zipper, unlined. Looks like new, no signs of wear, but has two very tiny holes like punctures on right front of dress between waist and bust near side seam. Size large. 1980's YSL Rive Gauche Silk Print Wrap Dress

"Saint Laurent, Rive Gauche, Paris, Made in France" label. Classic open-front wrap dress from the famed French couturier. Made of silk charmuese in black with textured black dots and teal printed dots. The dress is fitted at the waist and loose-fitting through bodice and skirt. Lovely tailoring details such as shirring at top shoulder seams, and shirring below shoulders on top front of bodice. Pleated above and below waist band - nice center pleating, very sleek. Dress fastens inside waist with two large hooks and eyes, and fastens on side waist with hook and snap. There is an extra hook set further in if a larger waist size is needed. V of neckline fastens with single cloth covered hook and eye. Sleeves fastens with buttons. A pussy-bow completes the look. This is the classic slinky 80's look. Looks hardly worn, very good condition though, one or two of fasteners at waist have been moved, seems awkwardly placed. Size small.
