1950's Philip Hulitar Scarf Print Linen Day Dress

"Philip Hulitar" and "Frost Bros."  labels. Hulitar was the custom designer  of evening and wedding attire at Bergdorf Goodman from 1939 until he started his own label in 1949. A gorgeous sherbet pink linen dress bursting with bold spring like floral scarf print in multi -colors. The perfect dress for a semi-formal afternoon wedding in the spring time. Exquisitely constructed with darted bust seams, waist finished with pink linen piping, seams for shapely contour on back bodice and skirt. Skirt has 3 flat pleats on either side at waist. Fully lined ivory silk organza. Fastens with back metal zipper. This dress would be in mint condition if not for the 3 tiny holes in the organza lining. Other than that, it looks nearly unworn. 1950's New/Old Luis Estevez Silk Print Dress with Pleating and Draping

"Estevez" and label. Mint unworn condition. Silk dress in black, gray and white hounds tooth print. Styled with kimono sleeves, fitted waist, tapered skirt with back kick pleat. Dress is tailored with exquisite front panel that magically pipes through a waist panel and becomes a pleated side drape for the skirt. Dress is fully lined in silk organza, fastens with back metal zipper and a medium size. 1950's Couture Embellished Cotton Occasion Dress

"Jeanne Valentine, French Original, made in Mexico" label. Very pretty dress with gorgeous couture details. Done in pale wheat super soft fabric that feels like a cotton silk blend. Dress is decorated by hand with slightly darker but matching yarn that is expertly hand stitched to look like braiding. The sequins are gold and reddish brown in color. The dress has a sweetheart neckline and fitted bodice. There is a attached self belt decorated with sequins that fastens with snap and hook. Skirt is very full and pleated, and also decorated. Dress is lined in matching soft cotton. Skirt has attached ivory silk crinoline slip. Back metal zipper. There is darkening around the inside lining of bodice, aside from that dress is in excellent shape. Size small. Measures 34" bust, 22" waist, free hips, 16" shoulder to waist. 1980's Valentino Boutique Skirt Suit

Since Valentino is no longer designing, his creations are even more collectible. This is not haute couture, but the next best thing. It is from the expensive Valentino Boutique, Italy label. According to an expert source of mine, the fabric dates the suit late 70's to very early 80's, and was probably priced around $1500.00 or more when new. It is made of white acetate, with a silk lining. the jacket is fitted with top-stitched curved seams at either side of jacket, front and back. The neckline is done with a simple and elegant treatment of inset fabric, with a dipped neckline. The neckline is styled wide, and the sleeves are tapered. The jacket fastens with faceted black buttons, and there are two matching buttons each sleeve. Jacket and skirt are lined in white silk with the signature "V" woven in. The skirt is slim-fitting, with back kick pleat. The suit is in excellent lightly worn condition, and marked size 6. Jacket measures 16" shoulder edge to edge, 20" sleeves, 34-36" bust, 26" waist, 21" in length. The skirt measures 25" waist, 35" hips and 20" in length. For a larger view click here.
