1950's Ceil
Chapman Silk Jersey and Silk Chiffon Evening Dress
"Ceil Chapman" black on white
label. A rare turquoise color, I don't think I have ever seen this color
in a Chapman dress before. And, also rare pleated silk jersey bodice
which is just gorgeous. The styling is a very form fitting bodice with a
V neckline with off-the-shoulder sleeves that are also pleated. The
skirt is done in three layers: top layer of matching turquoise silk
chiffon, next layer is matching silk netting, and final layer is
matching rayon crepe. The bodice is lined in turquoise silk, and the
dress fastens with back metal zipper. In good condition, structurally
sound and wearable. The silk chiffon skirt has several fade streaks, there are 6 vertical light streaks from
side of skirt to side of skirt, spaced evenly about every 8 inches.
There is a patch of
brown spots
above the hem at side hem, two large
water marks, and a small less than a dime size hole right above hem.
If the dress were to be taken up 3-4" the brown spots and the hole would
be gone. There is also a very faint light brown mark on one sleeve. It
presents nicely despite the flaws. Size small. Measures 34" bust, 24"
waist, free hips, 16" shoulder to waist, 29" waist to hem. For a

1950's
Frank Starr Silk Print Evening Gown with Appliqués'
"Frank Starr Original" label.
Late 40's to early 50's. A rare full length evening gown from this much
sought-after 50's designer. A big, bold graphic print in impressionistic
floral against a white background. The colors are bronze, applied
metallic gold paint, brilliant royal blue, and dusty rose. The gown has a
scoop neckline trimmed in hand stitched blue floral appliqués', cap
sleeves with fitted waist and very full floor length skirt. The
bodice is illusion style, with an attached off-white rayon taffeta under
slip with straps. The fabric is China silk, and is slightly see-through,
but is lined. The gown comes with it's original belt, and fastens with
side metal zipper. In very good condition, lining has a few tiny spots,
the lower side of skirt has a cluster of light brown spots, blends in
with print fairly well.
The dress has been stored very nicely and has little wear. Size small/tall. Measures 15-15 1/2" shoulder to shoulder edge, 36"
bust, 26" waist, free hips, 16" shoulder to waist, 43 1/2" waist to hem. For

1960's Bonwit Teller Silk Velvet "Audrey" Gown
with Satin -Trim Back
"Bonwit Teller" label. Gorgeous and so Audrey Hepburn,
so Givenchy! This is actually a
wrap style sheath gown, it wraps over in back and fastens with large
cloth covered snaps and hooks, but there are only a couple fasteners
around waist/back area, probably was designed to wear over pants. A pair of cigarette pants would
look elegant! It is fitted through bodice and waist, with long
narrow skirt. There is just a hint of shirring (light pleating or
gathering of fabric) around the waist, and the back neckline dips
very elegantly down to expose some skin. At back waist at off-center
there is a lovely matte black silk satin bow with streamers that
cascade down to hem. The gown is fully lined and in excellent
condition with very little wear, but does have two eraser head sized
areas where the velvet is smashed down, one spot on lower center
front skirt and the other on lower center back skirt. This gown is
quite small, and will be longer on a shorter frame. It measures
about 14-14 1/2" shoulder to shoulder edge, 30-32" bust, 24" waist,
up to 36" hips, 13" shoulder to high/empire waist, and 51" shoulder

1950's
Cotton Sarong Style Dress with Embroidery
and Swag
No labels, probably
seamstress sewn. Pretty blue cotton faille fabric, fitted bodice and
waist. The off-shoulder sleeves and neckline have zigzag edges
decorated with the prettiest cluster of cream colored dots, in a set
of three each. The self facing along the zigzag neckline has
very nicely done stiff muslin fabric lining, to keep the shape of
the edges. That is a nice dress maker touch. The skirt is layered,
sarong style, and gathered up at left hip with a swag done to match
the neckline, and also has embroidery. There is ruching along the
left seam under the swag, another nice touch. The dress is unlined,
and fastens with side metal zipper. In excellent condition. Size
medium. Measures 38" bust, 28" waist, up to 38" hips, 16" shoulder

1950's
Embroidered Organdy Party Dress
No labels found. Very
nicely constructed. The dress is made of a cotton blend organdy, a
semi-sheer and fairly sturdy fabric. The dress bodice is fitted and
darted, the skirt is shirred around the waist, and quite full. The
embroidery is all hand done, pretty little bouquets of spring
blossoms and leaves in two shades of light pink, white, and two
shades of light green. The dress fastens with a side nylon zipper,
which is a replacement.
Other than the new zipper, the dress is in very good to
excellent condition with little wear. Size extra small/petite. Measures 14"
shoulder edge to edge/opening, 31" bust, 23" waist, free hips, 15
1/2" shoulder to waist, 24" waist to hem. Can teen sizes
