1960's Malcolm Starr Scarf Print Sheath Dress with Pleat and Drape

"Elineor Simmons for Malcolm Starr" and "Kreegers" labels. Malcolm Starr is the son of designer Frank Starr. Gorgeous silk charmuese floral sheath with front asymmetrical pleated draping. The pleating goes from right shoulder across and down to left hip, where there is a full swag. There is a self bow under the left bust. The bodice is lined in yellow silk with it's own back zipper. The dress fastens with back metal zipper. In very good wearable condition. Very clean. The right underarm has a faint perspiration mark along with a tiny hole in top layer, the yellow lining shows through. Very small hole. Size medium-large. 1950's Mollie Stone Pleated Satin Gown with Pleating

"Minuet by Mollie Stone" label. Known for her formals and semi-formals. This ink black rayon satin gown has a touch of pink. The bodice is fitted, and decoratively pleated across the bust. There is an inset light pink satin band under the bust, this band turns into long floating panels down the center back of the gown. The gown is ruched at the sides of the waist, and the skirt is cut slightly fuller at the hem. The bodice is lined and boned or reinforced with stays. Back metal zipper. Very good condition. The pink panels in back are slightly soiled on the ends, that is the only flaw. Size small. 1940's New with Tags Werle Printed Taffeta New Look Dress

From 1949-1950 "New Look". This dress has no labels, but has two "Werle Original" hang tags- maybe a sample. Dan Werle was a Hollywood costume designer most notable for designing clothing for Loretta Young's 1950's television show. This silk taffeta dress is printed with an abstract design that makes it look as if it were a brocade. Done in matte black with a bronze print. This is a two piece fitted top with full skirt, but the pieces are attached in back with a shared metal zipper, and also a few sturdy stitches in front. I can only guess that the dress was designed this way because it is less confined than a one piece dress. The dress is really beautifully constructed. The bodice is fitted and has self covered buttons for show only, long sleeves taper down to narrow ends, with hidden metal zippers. Collar is high and notched, nipped waist. The skirt is shirred at waist and full. Bodice is lined in black silk, skirt is lined in black silk organza and has a light black crinoline slip attached. Immaculate condition. Size small. 1950's Peggy Hunt Tailored Silk Taffeta Dress

"Elinor, San Francisco" and "Peggy Hunt" labels. A festive holiday dress in a pretty shade of red. Made of silk taffeta, with nice tailoring and dress maker details. The bodice is fitted, the neckline dips low and has a self bow. The neckline is finished with self piping around the edges. The bodice has strategically placed darts to accommodate a full bust, and fastens with a row of clear carved buttons. The skirt is box pleated and very very full. The skirt also fastens with hidden hooks and eyes at waist. The bodice is partially lined. The dress is in very good to excellent condition, there is a small fray on the facing of the neckline where it meets the seam at the shoulder, there is a tiny spot on the back of the bodice above the waist seam, and the buttons are not original to the dress but look very nice.
