1960's Malcolm Starr Silk Charmeuse Sheath Dress with Side Drape

"Elineor Simmons for Malcolm Starr" and "Kreegers" labels. Malcolm Starr is the son of designer Frank Starr. Gorgeous silk charmuese floral sheath with front asymmetrical pleated draping. The pleating goes from right shoulder across and down to left hip, where there is a full swag. There is a self bow under the left bust. The bodice is lined in yellow silk with it's own back zipper. The dress fastens with back metal zipper. In very good wearable condition. Very clean. The right underarm has a faint perspiration mark along with a tiny hole in top layer, the yellow lining shows through. Very small hole. Size medium-large. 1950's Mme Alexandre Paris Couture Pleated Chiffon Dress

"Mme Alexandre, 104 FG St Honore', Paris 8, Made in France" label. This dress is almost entirely hand-stitched. It is made of a silk fabric that is a cross between chiffon and organza, a fabric I don't think I have ever seen before. The color is graduated, light mocha on top, going to brown down at the hem. The chiffon/organza is pleated from top to bottom of dress. This is a ballerina style, with fitted bodice and full tea length skirt. The dress is lined in a peachy-terra cotton colored silk taffeta, the edge of the bodice trimmed in a double layer of brown chiffon, with midriff and waist and finished in brown silk organza with bows. The bodice is lined in silk taffeta with hidden boning. There is an inner grosgrain waist belt, and a hand sewn cord for hanger straps. The dress fastens with back metal zipper. In excellent condition, near Mint. Only flaw is about 1/3 of the hem came un-sewn and was re-sewn in a color of thread that does not match the rest of the hem, although in the same color scheme as the dress. Size medium-large. 1960's Bonwit Teller Silk Velvet Evening Gown with Satin -Trim Back

"Bonwit Teller" label. Gorgeous and so chic! This is actually a wrap style sheath gown, it wraps over in back and fastens with large cloth covered snaps and hooks. It is fitted through bodice and waist, with long narrow skirt. There is just a hint of shirring (light pleating or gathering of fabric) around the waist, and the back neckline dips very elegantly down to expose some skin. At back waist at off-center there is a lovely matte black silk satin bow with streamers that cascade down to hem. The gown is fully lined and in excellent condition with very little wear, but does have two eraser head sized areas where the velvet is smashed down, one spot on lower center front skirt and the other on lower center back skirt. This gown is quite small, and will be longer on a shorter frame. It measures about 14-14 1/2" shoulder to shoulder edge, 30-32" bust, 24" waist, up to 36" hips, 13" shoulder to high/empire waist, and 51" shoulder to hem. For a larger view click here.
