1950's Samuel Winston Printed Silk Crepe Dress

"Samuel Winston by Roxanne" label. Never had a bad Sam Winston dress, always classic and top notch quality. This black silk crepe gabardine dress has a unique stylized saucer print in striking white on black, which I love. The dress is styled with a fitted waist with shirring all around, the bodice fits loosely like a blouse, skirt is semi-full and finished with a slightly ruffled self trim around hem. Below the ruffle trim hem on the skirt is another slightly more narrow band of self fabric, making this more of a "hobble" skirt style dress. Dress is fully lined in black silk and fastens with back metal zipper. The dress looks like new, like it was never worn, but does have some small light brown stains on two of the saucers at back bottom of skirt. Size small. Measures 15 1/2" shoulder to shoulder edge, 37" bust, 26" waist, up to 37" hips, 16" shoulder to waist, 25" waist to hem. For a larger view click here. For a side view click here. 1950's Christian Dior Dress Suit

"Christian Dior New York" and "Saks Fifth Avenue" labels. A chic dinner/cocktail suit in black and gold brocade (it almost looks like a leopard print). The fabric feels like a wool and silk blend. The suit consists of s slim, fitted and sleeveless dress with matching belt. The dress is decorated with self covered buttons on front bodice. The jacket has sculptural tailoring with fitted/nipped waist, notched collar and hip level pockets with flaps. The sleeves each  have a single matching button on the slit of the cuff. The jacket is lined in black silk crepe with "Christian Dior" woven into the fabric. The dress is lined in a sheer and sturdy black fabric. The dress fastens with back metal zipper and the jacket fastens with self covered buttons. The suit has a lovely shape to it and is in excellent condition. One thing to note: the label from the dress was either removed or fell off and has been re-sewn onto the jacket above the Saks label at neckline. So, there are two Dior labels on the jacket. Not a problem, but should be mentioned. Also, two of the jacket buttons are getting scuffed from use, they aren't unraveling or fraying yet, but to be watched. The suit is a size small. Dress measures 36" bust, 27" waist, 36" hips, 16" shoulder to waist and 27" waist to hem. The jacket measures 16 1/4" shoulder to shoulder seam, 37" bust, 28" waist, 38" hips, 16" shoulder to waist, 24" shoulder to hem. For a larger view click here. For a side view click here. 1950's Tina Leser Cotton Print Day Dress

"Tina Leser Originals" label. One of the great and innovative American designers. A very pretty dress with lovely dress maker details. In cotton with floral print on cream background. Styled with a square neckline, short sleeves, form fitting bodice. The skirt is very full, and lined in a stiff pelon fabric. There is a center front panel on the bodice, and the panel has decorative pleating at top left corner and bottom right corner. The back neckline plunges down a bit, and there are matching cords with tassels to tie right above the back neckline to adjust neckline tension in front, and also gives a decorative flair. The skirt has two satin panels inside at hips, for shape. The bodice is lined in a very pale pink soft cotton. The lining of the skirt is a gold color, and since the cotton fabric is fairly light weight and thin, the different colors of linings show through a bit and make the upper part of the dress look lighter than the skirt. Overall this dress is in excellent condition, although the shoulders of the dress look slightly soiled. Size small. Dress measures 15 1/2" shoulder to shoulder edge, 34" to snug 36" bust, 26" waist, free hips, 15 3/4" shoulder to waist, 28" waist to hem. For a larger view click here. For a side view click here. 1960's Lord & Taylor Matte Silk Satin Evening Dress

"Lord and Taylor Fifth Avenue" and "Whitney" labels. This is such a gorgeous couture dress! Very Dior in style, construction and quality. The dress is matte black silk satin, the finest. Styled with surplice bodice sculpted with darts, top surplice layer extending down to skirt, this creates the top side layer which is the faux wrap look. Bodice is fitted, plunging neckline, bust is darted, waist is fitted. Skirt has faux wrap front and is attached at the side of waist. Top skirt flap is rounded off at the side/bottom for style, and decoratively pleated. The look is finished with three self bows (they actually look more like flowers) starting at the side waist. The dress is fully lined in silk and has it's own attached silk and horsehair netted crinoline slip. Fastens with back metal zip and hook. In excellent like new condition, but does have a small spot on back of skirt near side seam, and a rip in the back seam of the crinoline slip. Absolutely ink black, no fade. Size small.
