	1970's George Stavropoulos Silk Chiffon Gown with Floating Panels "Stavropoulos New York, Athens" label. Greek born Stavropoulos studied design in Paris, emigrated to the US in 1961 and became known for evening wear with details such as draping, asymmetrical details, floating panels and bias cuts. He was also known for his use of colored silks and chiffons. This is a beautiful example of the use of silk chiffon in a brilliant color, and the use of floating panels and bias cuts. The floating panels are done with an asymmetrical zigzag hem and there are two at each side/back of gown. The gown is deep indigo blue. The gown is a fitted full length gown with sheer tapered sleeves. It is given it's ethereal quality by use of the side and back floating panels of same fabric. Comes with huge scarf which can be used as a belt, as pictured, or used as a shawl. The gown is lined in matching silk and fastens with back metal zipper. Aside from one pull in the chiffon and a replaced zipper, is in excellent clean condition. Size large. 	1950's Grecian Silk Chiffon Evening Gown "Foulke and Foulke, New York" label. Gorgeous printed silk chiffon gown with decoratively pleated and fitted bodice, and long slim skirt with cascading silk chiffon swag at side. The side swag actually starts at side bodice, where is looks as if it is piped-through the pleating. The floral print is stunning, in purple, chartreuse, aqua and spring green against a white background. The gown is lined in off white crepe, and fastens with back metal zipper. In very good condition, the straps show a moderate amount of stress but are intact (recommended replacing before wearing). No stains or holes found, lining seems a bit droopy. Size medium. 	1950's Sophie Gimbel Salon Moderne Printed Silk Chiffon Evening Gown "Salon Moderne " Saks Fifth Avenue label. The Salon Moderne at Saks was the couture custom department. Sophie Gimbel was the custom designer for Salon Moderne, which also carried original designs from top couturiers. The gown is printed silk chiffon over matching printed satin, very fine and expensive. Probably a spring gown, the floral print in gorgeous multi-pastel colors against a watery aqua background. The gown is Grecian one-shoulder strap style, with the strap covered in a full length pleated silk chiffon panel, matching the dress of course. The bodice has tight pleating across the bust, and front to back along the top. Fitted, with a semi-full, full-length skirt. The bodice of the gown is lined in a matching blue silk, the skirt (printed satin) is lined in cream silk. The gown fastens with back metal zipper. In very very good condition. The bodice lining has been let out at side seams and back darts. There is a small snag on side of skirt at hip, and one of the side stays is missing from the bodice lining. Easy to remove or replace. 	1950's Satin and Lace Dinner Dress No labels, probably a Helga design. Black silk taffeta with satin finish dress with contrasting bone satin inset at waist. The inset is decorated with hand made floral lace, very nice! The dress is fitted through the bodice with the use of contoured bust seaming. The skirt is very full. The bodice is lined in black organza, the skirt has it's own black crinoline slip. Fastens with back metal zipper. In excellent condition. Size small. 	1950's Ceil Chapman Printed Silk Dress "Ceil Chapman" black on white label. Silk with a satin finish. Gorgeous! Floral print in aqua, turquoise, ice blue, mauve and dark green against an off- white background. Fitted bodice with sweetheart neckline. Decorative pleating over bust and straps, front to back. Straps are gathered just under shoulders, and have a band of self fabric around them. Nice touch. Sculptural darted seams for shape. Nipped waist, and full skirt with yards of bias cut fabric. Dress comes with it's original self belt. Dress fastens with side metal zipper, bodice is lined in white netted fabric, skirt has inset pocket. In very good-excellent hardly worn condition, with exception of very very faint remnant of perspiration mark at one underarm, and buckle is frayed along one edge, and belt has a patch where it looks lightly soiled.
