1950's Christian Dior Dress Suit

"Christian Dior New York" and "Saks Fifth Avenue" labels. A chic dinner/cocktail suit in black and gold brocade (it almost looks like a leopard print). The fabric feels like a wool and silk blend. The suit consists of s slim, fitted and sleeveless dress with matching belt. The dress is decorated with self covered buttons on front bodice. The jacket has sculptural tailoring with fitted waist with peplum skirt, notched collar and hip level pockets with flaps. The sleeves each  have a single matching button on the slit of the cuff. The jacket is lined in black silk crepe with "Christian Dior" woven into the fabric. The dress is lined in a sheer and sturdy black fabric. The dress fastens with back metal zipper and the jacket fastens with self covered buttons. The suit has a lovely shape to it and is in excellent condition. One thing to note: the label from the dress was either removed or fell off and has been re-sewn onto the jacket above the Saks label at neckline. So, there are two Dior labels on the jacket. Not a problem, but should be mentioned. Also, two of the jacket buttons are getting scuffed from use, they aren't unraveling or fraying yet, but to be watched. The suit is a size small. Dress measures 36" bust, 27" waist, 36" hips, 16" shoulder to waist and 27" waist to hem. 1960's New/Old with Tags Ceil Chapman Silk Chiffon Two-Piece Dress

"Ceil Chapman" label, along with all original hang tags. Pristine condition. Coral pink silk chiffon pleated over blouse lined in matching silk with back metal zipper. Dress has pink silk top with thin straps, and matching bias chiffon skirt. The cut of the skirt is really beautiful. The skirt is lined in matching silk. The top and dress both fasten with back metal zippers. Size small-medium. Dress measures 35" bust, 26" waist, 37"  hips, 17" shoulder to waist, 26" waist to hem. 1960's Bill Blass Printed Organza Dress and Coat Set

"Bill Blass for Maurice Rentner" label. Let me just say that the screen print is outrageously gorgeous! And, a very costly process to print silk organza. Colors are coral, spring green, lavender, tangerine and fuchsia. Very pretty fitted empire waist dress, sleeveless, with faux back belt that buttons with self covered button. Dress is lined in silk organza, and has inner grosgrain waist cincher belt. Coat is fitted, with notched collar and glove length sleeves. Coat has side pockets with flaps, and faux back belt. The coat is fully self lined in same printed organza which is pretty amazing and a couture detail. Coat fastens with self covered buttons. Outfit is in excellent condition except for a random fade line on fold creases, from clothing being stored folded. Also, dress has been taken in at the waist. Size small. Dress measures 34-36" bust, 26" waist, 36" hips, 15 1/2" shoulder to waist, 26" waist to hem. 1970's Andre' Laug Couture Silk Damask Crepe Dress with Shawl

 "Andre' Laug for Audrey S.R.L., made in Italy ROMA" and "Martha Boutique Made In Italy" labels. Cranberry red silk crepe damask with tulips pattern. A long, narrow column of a dress with a fitted upper bodice and waist and low neckline with self straps. The gown has three tiers of ruffles, matching triangular shawl. The gown is lined in matching silk, the under portion of the bodice fastens on the side with a metal zipper, the outer layer fastens over the zipper with cloth covered snaps. Aside from a stain on one corner of the shawl, the set is in excellent condition. Size small. Measures 36" bust, 28" waist, up to 37" hips, 17" shoulder to waist, 36" waist to hem. 1960's Nathan Strong Beaded Satin Cocktail Dress

"The Way to Look, by Nathan Strong" label. Late 50's-early 60's. Metal gray matte silk satin cocktail dress. Styled with fitted bodice, waist and sleeves with flared a-line skirt with shirring around the waist. The waist is finished with a band of self fabric with a center bow. The neckline and sleeves are decorated with tiny rhinestones and varied sizes of metal gray fresh water pearl like beads. The sleeves have openings that fasten with hidden tiny snaps. The dress is fully lined in matching silk organza and fastens with back metal zipper. In very good condition, at one side of zipper placket above waist there are a few tiny scattered snags, and the fabric around the beading at neckline in front only is rippled between the beading and stones probably from dry cleaning. Size small-medium. Measures 15 1/2" shoulder to shoulder seam, 22 1/2" sleeve, 36" bust, 27" waist, free hips, 16" shoulder to waist, 42 1/2" total length. For a larger view click here.
