1950's Silk Jersey and Alencon Lace Cocktail Dress with Decorative Pleating Detail

No labels found. What a gorgeous and unique design! This is a matte black silk jersey fitted hourglass dress with pleating at the shoulders and waist, and two tiers of black Alencon or corded lace with asymmetrical and scalloped hems. The decorative pleating at the waist starts above the waist seam on left side, and dips down a bit lower below the waist on the right side. The dress is lined in black silk, and the lace skirts are lined in a stiff black netting, with a generous band of horsehair netting at hems, to keep the proper shape. A truly beautiful and unique design. In very good condition: there is a small hole at back of side seam on jersey bodice, a tiny hole in the lace at bottom of zipper placket, a loose cord thread on lower side lace skirt, and finally the back zipper has been replaced with a nylon zipper. There are two white spots on the lining, above hemline.  Size medium-large. This dress needs to be filled out in the bust to look right, and it is fairly busty. 1950's Tailored Wool/Silk Dress with Decorative Back Detail

No labels found, very nicely made. A very pretty shade of metallic blue in a wool and silk blend, just like the fabric Lilli Ann uses for her 50's suits. The view shown is the back view. The front of the dress is very fitted, with princess seaming. The back of the dress has a faux button placket with self covered buttons and pleating at sides of placket. There is a larger self bow at back waist. Skirt is gored, hem is done in crystal pleating with a band of self fabric, a sort of modified mermaid hem. The dress fastens with a side metal zipper, and is un-lined. In excellent condition, looks un-worn. Size medium. 1950's Herbert Schneider Silk Faille Tailored Day Dress

"Herbert Schneider" and "This Garment is Pure Silk" labels. A beautifully tailored dress of matte black silk faille, feels slightly like taffeta and slightly like satin. A fitted dress with button front placket with self covered buttons and French bound button holes. A single hook and eye at waist.  There is a jabot tie at neck, and neckline is dipped in front center. Inset pockets at hips. Skirt has back inverted kick pleat. Dress is unlined except for fabric facing on bodice. Although this dress looks un-worn or worn only once or twice, it does have two flaws: at left shoulder seam the fabric is frayed across the seam about 2". Behind this fray is another 1 1/2" fray that is only held together by some threads. The fabric next to the neck opening is worn down about 2" in diameter as well. The fraying at the seam can be altered out. Size medium-large. Measures 16" shoulder to shoulder seam, up to 39" bust, 29" waist, 39" hips, 16 1/2" shoulder to waist, 27" waist to hem. 1970's Graphic Screen Print Silk Chiffon and Silk Twill Dress

"A Cannon Dress" label. An exceptionally nice and well made dress of silk georgette bodice, and silk twill skirt. The bodice is self lined, a couture detail. Bodice is fitted, slightly high waist, has faux button placket front, of self covered buttons and there is a small collar. Sleeves are full and billow-y, and taper down to wide cuffs that fasten with 3 ball shaped self covered buttons into bound button holes. The skirt is lightly pleated around the waist and full. The skirt is lined in white silk organza, and has inset pockets. The dress fastens with back nylon zipper. Dress looks almost brand new it is in such nice shape, but it does have two water spots on the skirt, a large one at center front, and a small size of nickel spot off to the side. Size small-medium. Dress measures 15 1/2" shoulder to shoulder seam, 24" sleeves, 36" bust, 27"  empire waist, 14" shoulder to waist seam, 41" waist to hem. For a larger view click here. For a side view click here.
