1950's Adele Simpson Silk Crepe Sheath Dress

"Adele Simpson" label. This dress is made of fine luscious heavy silk crepe, sometimes called gabardine. Very expensive fabric, very fine.  This dress is so finely constructed it looks and feels couture. The print is of sketched flowers and little boxes in olive and mint green and cornflower blue against a white background. The dress is styled as a fitted sheath with attached tie belt. The shoulders have been cut wide, forming a bit of a cap. This dressmaker detail makes the small waist look even smaller! There is shirring at either side of skirt at waist giving just a bit of fullness. The dress buttons from waist up with matching novelty buttons, and has a hidden 8" metal zipper placket on front of skirt. The inner waist is finished with matching tape ribbon, and the dress is fully lined in cream silk. The dress has been well cared for over the years, the fabric is fresh and clean. Excellent condition. Size small. Measures 15" shoulder to shoulder edge, 34-36" bust, 26" waist, 36" hips, 15 1/2" shoulder to waist, 27" waist to hem. For a larger view click here. 1950's Stan Hicks/ Hawaiian Casuals Sun Dress

"Hawaiian Casuals by Stan Hicks, made in Honolulu" label. Crisp cotton sun dress with amazing orchid screen print. The background of the dress is dark periwinkle blue, the print is metallic gold, black, white and royal blue. The dress is styled with tie straps and fitted waist, the skirt is full and pleated. The bodice is self lined, the skirt is not lined. The dress fastens with back metal zipper. The dress looks like new, the fabric and colors are fresh and sharp like the day it was made. The only flaw is the inner elastic straps that create that shelf bust look, the elastic is dried and no longer has any stretch. Otherwise I rate this dress as in excellent to Mint condition. 1950's Miss Brooks Silk Print Dress with Pleating and Faux Sarong Skirt

"Miss Brooks New York". Silk charmuese with floral print in cool shades of turquoise blue, light blue, aqua and violet. Fitted, hourglass shape, slim skirt. Bodice and waist are fitted. Bodice has pleated shawl collar with pretty self ascot with fringe at one side. Skirt is pleated at left waist for a sarong look. Dress is lined in matching rayon. Skirt has back kick pleat and fastens with back metal zipper. This dress would be absolutely flawless except for light fading across the shoulders from storage. Size small.
